While two opposing lessons, in my Arts education we were taught to feel and learn how to translate emotion into visual expressions. In my Architectural studies… I was advised that, ‘The best Architects are very emotionless.’ Since then, I have learned that there is a middle ground. My personal viewpoint is design starts with feeling before form. The way a space is occupied, its weight, comfort and quiet excitement. I design from lived experience, how I feel, how people move, and how fleeting impressions become lasting. Growing up between multiple homes and countries taught me meaning comes from proximity, openness, and shared life, not perfection. I favor spaces that blur boundaries, invite participation, and include. I aim to hold the faint moments, no matter if small or heavy, I want structures to keep those moments alive. As a young designer I have much to learn still, and I hope to keep learning for decades to come!
